E. coli Contamination Prompts Nationwide Recall

WASHINGTON, April 20, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced the recall of over 16,000 pounds of raw ground beef sold at Walmart stores nationwide due to a possible E. coli contamination.

Health Concerns

E. coli (Escherichia coli) is a bacteria that can cause serious illness and even death. Symptoms of E. coli infection can include severe abdominal cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and vomiting. The bacteria can be particularly dangerous for children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.
