Manchester City Edge Chelsea in Thrilling FA Cup Semi-Final
Bernardo Silva's Late Goal Secures Double Hopes for Pep Guardiola's Side
Match Report
Manchester City kept their hopes of a domestic double alive after a hard-fought victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. Bernardo Silva's 87th-minute goal proved to be the difference between the two sides at Wembley Stadium.
Chelsea started brightly and had the better chances in the first half. However, City grew into the game and created several opportunities of their own. Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish both went close for the Premier League leaders, while Julian Alvarez had a shot cleared off the line by Thiago Silva.
The Blues continued to press in the second half, but they were unable to find a way past the City defense. Silva's goal came against the run of play, as he latched onto a loose ball and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
Chelsea's FA Cup run came to an end with the defeat, but they will still have a chance to win silverware this season. They face Liverpool in the final of the Carabao Cup on February 26th.
