Sinner Starts Wimbledon Campaign With Straight-Sets Win
Italian Extends No. 1 Lead With Victory Over Hanfmann
Sinner, the top seed at Wimbledon for the first time, defeated Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets on Monday to begin his 2024 campaign.
With the victory, Sinner extended his lead as the No. 1 ranked player in the world. He will next face either Miomir Kecmanovic or Francisco Cerundolo in the second round.
Sinner is looking to become the first Italian man to win Wimbledon since Adriano Panatta in 1976. He is also aiming to become the youngest Wimbledon champion since Boris Becker in 1985.
